audrey_eeeI normally set aside Sundays for writing, but this week I watched Beyoncé’s Coachella performance then went to a Thorns game. #BeyChella was amazing and the Thorns won. Next game is Friday night, and I think if you missed Beyoncé they might be rebroadcasting it on Saturday.
I just got my tax stuff back from the accountant and I owe money and I don’t have it, and I think I’m probably going to be looking for a job sooner than I’d like. I have a possible consulting gig next month that would help a lot, but I’m waiting for them to confirm. I’m also working on the next Kickstarter, but I suspect this one is unlikely to bring in much extra income.
My ideal situation is that consulting work and Kickstarter money keeps me going until the end of the summer, then I look for a full-time job in September. This would let me write the conference planning book that goes with the Kickstarter, get the rest of this year’s Recompiler projects published, then start budgeting for the 2019 schedule. Contracting out most of the stuff I was doing is going well (although it took longer than I expected). We just still don’t have enough customers to pay me to do this full time. That’s so basic and frustrating.
Everything else is going ok. Catching up from being sick has made my schedule really busy. I had my first ASL class this week and loved it. The instructor is Deaf and very encouraging.
I’m hoping to see Annihilation tomorrow, one more time before it leaves the theater. This would be my third viewing.
Oh, and I agreed to co-chair a tenth and probably final Open Source Bridge. We're going to have an announcement this week about the much-smaller event we'll be running.
