Things have been going a little better, especially with the weather warming up, but I got really sick the other week and completely lost my voice, which was pretty frustrating. So... I signed up for an American Sign Language class. I’d been meaning to for a while and the community college term is just starting.

I have a ridiculous number of things I’ve been working on that all went on hold, and I guess the one upside is that it was easier to reprioritize afterward. There are a bunch of articles from last year to go on the website — now I have all the pages in there and some of the formatting corrections. I scanned all my tax paperwork and sent it to the accountant. I even made soup.

When everything is off schedule, it's really disorienting. Do I have a magazine if we're printing the current issue three months late?

Other stuff:

I’m the new assistant team lead for my NET group — which basically means I agreed to send out meeting invites. Disaster response is not that much different from any other kind of organization.

I applied for a travel grant for Wiscon, and got it. So yay, I’m attending for the first time this year.

I also have my travel booked for Allied Media Conference in Detroit a couple weeks later.

More to come! How have you all been?

I will not be at WisCon this year, but my partner If and his partner Sarah will be. If you'd like to meet some friendly folks, I can definitely put you in contact with them. One of the people we're friends with usually does a "welcome to WisCon" dinner for people to connect with each other and I can also try to find out if she's doing that.
