This week in Audrey World: 3
Dec. 3rd, 2017 12:10 pmMy sleep schedule has been a wreck — I don't love mornings, but I don't hate them either, not that you would know from what I've been doing. At least it hasn't reached Epic Insomnia yet.
I had a massive 2018 strategy meeting with one of my primary collaborators. It involved an entire wall of sticky notes. But now we have a schedule, a set of milestones, and a list of spots we need to find people to fill. Especially technical editors. I'm looking for someone(s) who can do ~8 articles in February and another batch around July.
I also made a 2018 budget. It indicates we'll have an entire $10k in profit at our current rate of sales, which is why a chunk of our strategy discussion was about marketing. I booked someone to do some social media content for the next couple of weeks, and I have another person who can start in January. The biggest area where we can improve is selling the Style Guide ebooks — it could be reaching a ton more people. So, I'm thinking about ways to get there.
The next big thing on my list is to survey all the KS backers and order their rewards. My goal is to pay for as much of this as possible before the end of the year, including postage. We'll see.
Saturday I'm flying to SF for the very last AlterConf. I think we're all sad to see it end but this should be a good one.
Still playing Breath of the Wild. and Animal Crossing Pocket Camp.
Oh! I almost forgot, I also applied for the Recurse Center 1 week mini-retreat that's happening in January. With any luck I'll be spending a week in NYC. They needed a sample program and I've barely written anything in a while (bash scripts, while effective, don't show a lot about how I code). So I made a little emoji-based mood tracker.
