It's Kickstarter time again! We're raising money for a second edition of Community Event Planning, wherein Christie and I will share what we've learned in over ten years of organizing conferences, unconferences, hackathons, workshops, salmonella outbreaks — we've experienced a lot and lived to tell the tale.

So that's been keeping me busy. Yesterday was the first fully unscheduled day on my calendar in a while, except it was actually Video Editing Day, and I didn't manage to do anything else aside from grocery shopping. This is my third Kickstarter and fourth or fifth crowdfunding campaign. I'm relieved that my estimates on how long the prep will take are reasonably accurate.

I went to a NET (neighborhood emergency team) drill on Sunday. We practiced search and rescue and triage (no volunteer victims, just a bunch of traffic cones with descriptions of patients and their injuries). I'm meeting with the program coordinator later this week to talk about what I'm doing to get the team in my own neighborhood fully active.

Earlier in the week, I did a one-day hazmat "awareness" training. It's basically a general first responder course on identifying hazardous materials and doing immediate treatment, evacuation, and other safety processes. I fell well informed.

We're still shipping copies of Issue 9, although I think we'll run out soon. I got behind a little last week (due to hazmat and other activities) so today's tasks include mailing a bunch of things.

I should probably get to work on that.
